Zipping Willow Set For Megastar

Zipping Willow smashed the mighty Hooksy’s third split record when she led throughout at Wentworth Park on Saturday night and will now be set for the group one Dapto Megastar on September 12.

Trainer Jason MACKAY announced the long range plan for the bitch after she also clocked a new record second split of 13.52 and a third section of 17.60 on her way to a personal best Wentworth Park 520m time of 29.35 at Saturday night's meeting.

With an impressive record of 23 starts from 35 outings, MACKAY's charge remains a greyhound to keep a close eye on.

Double Twist (pictured), whose chances in the race were ruined when she was trapped outside wide running Pablo Cruz at the first turn, is also being steered towards the $75,000 Sportingbet Megastar.

While the Marty and Fiona Hallinan-owned Zipping Willow stole the show at the meeting,  the Western Districts breeders have sold their promising Zipping Spike for a huge five figure sum.

Zipping Spike has been bought by northern coalfields owner Brad Canty, and will join Brad’s Awesome Project, who starred in Thursday night’s Winter Carnival Cup heats at Albion Park, in the Melbourne kennels of Darren McDonald.

Zipping Spike, who was trained in Sydney by John Gale, set the time standard of 29.95 in the heats of the Sportingbet Maiden Series at Wentworth Park on June 23.

He bungling the start and finishing sixth in the final on Friday night.

Gut Wrenching claimed a notable win for trainer Troy Donaldson as a rank outside $25 shot in the race.
