Jewel Aiming To Shine At Dapto

By Stuart Turner

Jewel Action has been flying recently but faces a big threat to her winning form at Dapto tonight.

The impressive newcomer has recorded five wins and placed every time from her seven outings so far and goes from box six in the Rags To Riches Sprint Series heats (520m).

She faces a strong field tonight and will be outside the experienced Zambora Magic, a three-time Wentworth Park winner with a solid placing record to boot.

Sam Sultana, who has been assisting daughter Kristy train the bitch, said the box five dog would be a formidable opponent for his charge.

"Zambora Magic a really good dog," he said. "He has class on his side.

"I think it's all going to depend on how the five dog jumps.

"Jewel Action has got a bad box tonight, so she cannot afford to do anything wrong.

"She's got a chance but it could be tough."

Jewel Action has quickly become a greyhound to watch, with three previous triumphs over 520m at Dapto under her belt.

She won well at Wentworth Park last month and also showed she can step up in distance, claiming victory over 535m at Richmond last time out.

Jewel Action has already recorded sub-30 second times for the 520m and seems certain to progress to bigger races soon.

Sultana said the Londonderry family had no definite plans for the greyhound if she maintained her current impressive form but she is shaping up as one to watch.

"She's very young still," he said. "We are hoping she can still improve.

"She could develop into a nice greyhound."

Miss All Class is also in the field and could also be worth considering.

She made an impressive start to her career but needs to bounce back after three consecutive unplaced outings.

Racing at Dapto starts at 7.28pm.
