Reverberate Aiming To Star at Cannington

By James Broadhurst

After a brief flirtation with 530m racing a fortnight ago veteran stayer Reverberate (pictured with trainer Linda Britton) will be in more comfortable territory when she takes on the Community Newspaper Group Paradise Street Trophy (642m) series at Cannington on Saturday.

The recent Mandurah Middle Distance Challenge winner tuned up for heat 3 (race 5) with a victory in a 715m Free To All last weekend.

Reverberate hasn’t been unplaced in a distance race since the Galaxy back in early February and from an inside draw she’ll be hard to defeat.

If Jeff The Tipster finds the form he showed on the east coast he can be a threat.

Ash Flash makes her return to the track following a short spell when she contests heat 2 (race 4).

Even though her form has been spotty since her appearance in the Galaxy final she’ll fancy her chances against this opposition.

Zelemar Diva enjoyed a nice sequence of results over this trip in April and she could play a role from box two while Back Jack Tewin hasn’t performed at his best on the Cannington circuit yet but if he happens to find the lead he can have an impact.

In the past month Ritza Liam has put himself forward as a potential stayer of note with three wins from four attempts over the 642m journey and he’ll jump as a warm favourite from box one in heat 4 (race 6).

The strong running chaser from John Carmody’s kennels has really found his range over this journey with a podium finish from his past eight attempts, seven of those being over the ‘600’.

Em Three was beaten by Ritza Liam last time around but can turn the tables if he runs somewhere near his best even through a wide alley does him no favours.

A small field of six in heat one (race 3) gives greybeard racedog Freeway Ace his best opportunity to break a winning drought in a long time.

He may not have led a field past the finish post since January but the 95 start veteran still possesses a decent late burst.

Freeway Ace may need to summon of all of that finishing power if Dyna Sandy takes the early advantage.

Dyna Sandy has saluted in her past two, including a win over 642m in 37.68 last week.

In other racing On Coin still can’t seem to draw a good box but he won’t need one in the 530m Free To All (race 7).

He was superb in capturing the Winter Cup last weekend and despite jumping from box six this time around he’s a near certainty to bank another victory.

Jump The Queue has been launching brilliantly and will likely lead again but like last week On Coin should round him up and put him in rear-view mirror at some point down the back straight.
