65 Roses Campaign A Huge Hit

By GRNSW and GRSA

Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) and Greyhound Racing SA (GRSA) are delighted to announce that the 65 Roses Campaign has now raised more than $100,000 for people living with Cystic Fibrosis.

This year’s Campaign – the third year it has been held – raised $37,677 for Cystic Fibrosis NSW and Cystic Fibrosis SA.

As part of the 65 Roses Campaign, each of the 33 greyhound tracks in NSW staged their own 65 Roses Race Meeting in May. Every time a greyhound wearing the red rug (number one) won a race at a 65 Roses Race Meeting, GRNSW donated $250 to Cystic Fibrosis. Clubs also staged their own fundraising efforts as well.

For the first time in the Campaign’s short history, GRSA became involved and donated $250 for every red rug winner at all Angle Park meetings staged throughout May.

In total, 83 greyhounds wearing the red rug won at designated 65 Roses Race Meetings during this year’s Campaign.

All money raised during this year’s 65 Roses Campaign will go to Cystic Fibrosis NSW and Cystic Fibrosis SA and helps fund further research and provide services for people living with the condition.

Cystic Fibrosis NSW CEO Michele Adair said the support of the 65 Roses Campaign from GRNSW clubs was hugely appreciated.

“We’re immensely grateful for the support and concern expressed by the whole greyhound racing community. The donations made throughout this Campaign will help ease the burden of living with Cystic Fibrosis and invest in much needed research,” Ms Adair said.

“I congratulate GRNSW for their leadership and for the success of the Campaign.”

GRNSW Chief Executive Brent Hogan said the continued success of the 65 Roses Campaign reflected the generosity of GRNSW clubs and participants.

“I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Campaign throughout the month of May,” Mr Hogan said.

“The kindness shown by greyhound racing clubs, participants and fans of the sport has ensured that the 65 Roses Campaign has raised more than $100,000 for Cystic Fibrosis in just three years.

“I would also like to thank all of the regional media outlets – particularly our media partners the WIN and NBN Television networks – for getting behind the Campaign and supporting it throughout May. This ensured the Campaign was a great success once again.”

Cystic Fibrosis SA Executive Officer Leanne Davis thanked the South Australian greyhound community for once again assisting the Campaign.

“I am thrilled that GRSA supported this wonderful Campaign in which they helped raise valuable funds to support those living with Cystic Fibrosis in South Australia,” Ms Davis said. “In return, we are looking forward to growing the partnership by welcoming GRSA and the dogs to our Great Strides event in November.”

GRSA Chief Executive Matt Corby said his organisation was proud to have supported the 65 Roses Campaign.

“We are delighted to have come on board with the 65 Roses Campaign to help raise vital funds for those affected by Cystic Fibrosis in South Australia,” Mr Corby said.

“It is an important Campaign and we hope it will greatly help those in need.”
