Double Twist Wins Again

By Jeff Collerson

Double Twist lost no admirers at Wentworth Park on Saturday night with a tenacious 29.61 win.

Trained by Garry Edwards, Double Twist has now won 23 times from 40 starts, including 11 wins at 21 Wentworth Park. What was most impressive with Saturday's victory was the fact Double Twist was forced to earn her victory.

Avondale Zena, no slouch at Wentworth Park, and Rue De Kahn, this year's National Futurity winner, took turns to make the early pace and Double Twist had to pull out all stops to come from third early and second on the home bend to win running away.

After the race bookmaker Mark Merlino remarked: "She is a truly great bitch. To win like this against a top class field and run time underlines just how Double Twist is."

It was Double Twist's second race since returning from a back muscle injury she suffered during the Paws Of Thunder series in January.
