Out All Nite A Chance At Big Odds

By Jeff Collerson

Bob McColm experienced what he describes as "the ride of his life" when Mr. Clydesdale was racing and has come up with a handy replacement in Out All Nite.

Bob’s latest greyhound has box five in Friday night’s second event at Wentworth Park - the Schweppes Sprint Series (520m) - and has a great chance of winning at good odds.

"She is over three years old but has had only 17 starts," Bob said.

"She tore a pin muscle in a shoulder and has been in season twice so her racing has been restricted.

"But at her first look at Wentworth Park, Out All Nite clocked 24.77 in a post-to-post hand-slip and then she trialled 30.20 there out of the boxes.

"She also broke 30 seconds in a trial at her first Gosford run so she has ability.

"I was happy her fourth to Push It at Wenty last Saturday night because there was a delay at the start when another handler trainer had trouble getting a dog into the boxes.

"That didn’t help Out All Nite and if she gets a clear run on Friday night she has a chance."

Mr. Clydesdale (pictured), who qualified for a remarkable seven group race finals, turned five on Anzac Day and is the family pet at Bob’s property at Sawyers Gully, in the Hunter Valley.

Another Call could make a successful return to Wentworth Park after drawing box one in race nine on Friday night.

The JODIE Lord-trained front-runner has had two wins and three placings from 13 Wentworth Park starts but has not raced there for three months.

"He hurt himself and to build up his fitness again I had to run him in short distance races," JODIE’s husband Andy said yesterday.

"And I wasn’t always able to get a start with him but he is going well now and led all the way over 440 metres at Canberra last Sunday.

"Another Call is not strong at the end of 520 metres at Wentworth Park but if he jumps cleanly he is capable of leading for a long way on Friday night."

Notoriously slow beginner Forward Thinking has the ideal draw to break through for his first city win in race six.

The Allan Manwaring-trained dog has box one and has a great chance of upsetting favourite Aurora Girl, box seven.

Aurora Girl made full use of box one to run down None Of Them in a slick 29.72 at Wentworth Park last Saturday night but is yet to win in seven starts from the three outside boxes.

Forward Thinking produced a barnstorming finish to just fail to catch Sugar Ray Lee in 30.21 after coming from box six at Wentworth Park last Friday.

But he posted fast times of 30.13 and 30.03 in two wins from box one over 520m at Nowra on April 28 and May 5.

Vanessa’s Flame bungled the jump from box four when seventh at Wentworth Park last Saturday night but is tipped to begin cleanly after drawing box one in a much easier seventh race on Friday night.

She has won in brilliant times over 400m at Richmond and Bulli so there is no doubting her ability to show early speed.
