No Deal! $750k Knocked Back For Shakey Jakey

By thedogs.com.au

Connections of new Wentworth Park track record holder Shakey Jakey have knocked back an offer of $750,000 to sell the boom greyhound.

Shakey Jakey has been the talk of the racing world and the general public all week after he smashed the existing Wentowrth Park track record at his first ever race start.

Running over a wet track, Shakey Jakey (pictured) set a time of 29.07 - 0.20 seconds better than the previous mark of 29.27 set by NSW Greyhound of the Year nominee Punch One Out.

Since the run, the phone of Shakey Jakey's trainer David Pringle has not stopped ringing with media enquiries and offers to buy the son of Collision and Kiacatoo Pearl.

On Tuesday, Pringle received an offer of $750,000 for Shakey Jakey, undoubtedly one of the biggest offers for a greyhound who has only had one start.

However, after discussing it with the greyhound's other connections, the offer was turned down.

It is understood connections have said Shakey Jakey will not be sold at the present moment.

Earlier in the week, Pringle told thedogs.com.au how he was in two minds whether or not to sell Shakey Jakey despite the huge money offers.

“Don't get me wrong, money is always good and you can't pay bills with trial tickets but money can't buy the feeling we had (on Sunday) night. I wouldn't be doing this if I was just in the game for the money,” he said.

“This is the type of dog you dream about. I'd love to keep him up here in NSW and win a few races up here.”
