Innocent Til's Final Egg Prep

By Jess Moran

Innocent Til will have one final hit-out at Sandown Park on Thursday before an expected tilt at the Macro Meats Golden Easter Egg series starting on April 5.

The Jason Thompson-trained speedster will line-up from box seven in race 8 at Sandown Park - the Macro Meats Free For All.

Innocent Til is aiming for his third win in a row but meets a hot field which includes Gold Town and Brisbane Cup winner and minor celebrity Kiss Me Ketut.

Thompson (pictured) though is confident Innocent Til can continue his good form.

"Innocent Til went pretty well last week and has had a good start to the year. Box seven should be good for him as he tends to prefer the wider draws and he seems to like Sandown a lot as well," he said.

"Apart from a few Group 1 finals where he has drawn terribly and ended up unplaced, I've been really happy with his performances lately.

"Hopefully he'll come through that okay and then he'll be heading to Sydney for the (Golden Easter) Egg.

Thompson said Innocent Til will not be in Sydney to make up the numbers.

"If you give him a half decent draw in a race like the Easter Egg, he will prove that he's as good as any dog in Australia right now.

"I just don't think he's been given the chance with draws to prove that yet. He's made four or five Group finals and has ended up in box four, five or six in all of them. It is just a matter of time before he gets a good draw and can show what he's capable of doing."

Innocent Til will not be the only greyhound Thompson is planning to send to Sydney in the coming week.

"I'll probably send Boris Fields up as well. He was in it last year and has run pretty quick at Wentworth Park," he said.
