Crump Looking To Continue That Winning Feeling

By thedogs.com.au

Horsham Cup winner Crump will be on the quick back-up when he lines up in the Abba Kennels Free For All (515m) at Sandown Park on Thursday night.

Crump scored a dominant win in last Saturday's Group 2 Horsham Cup in which he produced a track-record run of 26.67, bettering the previous mark of 26.68 set by Crash in 2004.

The win was the first Group victory for Crump, who is trained by Pearcedale based Troy Iwanyk. Following Crump's Horsham Cup win, Iwanyk told thedogs.com.au that he would aim his kennel star for the Macro Meats Golden Easter Egg series starting on April 5.

Firstly, however, Crump takes on a good field of chasers at Sandown Park on Thursday night where he will jump from box eight, the same draw he had in his Horsham Cup win.

Crump will not have everything his own way though as he meets an in-form Dark Warrior, who is looking for his third straight win.

Dark Warrior will jump from box one and will no doubt figure in the finish if he stays out of trouble.

Early leader no doubt will be Dyna Tony, who has been setting some sizzling sectionals despite being unable to notch up a win in recent starts. He looks the value in a race where both Dark Warrior and Crump are likely to dominate betting.

Meanwhile, Perth Cup winner Keybow will line up in the ninth event of the night - the 1 800 Appliances 4/5 Grade (515m).

Trained by Darren McDonald, Keybow started as favourite in the Group 1 Australian Cup at his last start, but could not match eventual winner Buckle Up Wes.

He has an awkward draw on Thursday night, where he will exit from box five, but should be too classy for the field he is up against and notch up his 11th career win.
