White Set Sights On Magic Maiden

By Jeff Collerson

Steve White, trainer of the great Paua To Burn, is preparing a hot team of juveniles for the Group 3 Centrebet Magic Maiden Classic heats at Wentworth Park on April 6.

Among these is Paua To Roar, who stunned Bulli fans with a blistering 26.18 performance trial win over 472m last week.

And while Paua To Roar won the trial by nearly four lengths from kennelmate Tommy Brisbane, Steve said the latter was actually very close in ability.

"Tommy Brisbane, who is from the next litter to Gaudi and is owned in Melbourne by Geoff Slattery, missed the jump in the Bulli trial but is only about .01 slower than Paua To Roar," Steve said.

"Paua To Roar is from the first litter whelped by Paua To Erupt, who was a good race bitch for me and is a daughter of Paua To Burn.

"At one stage I thought I could have up to a dozen youngsters in the Magic Maiden series but a couple of the bitches have come in season and others have had tibia problems, which can occur with pups.

"But I expect to have half a dozen smart young greyhounds in the April 6 heats."
