Knocka's Return Sets The Pace

Knocka's Return looks the one to beat in next Sunday's Sportingbet Temora Cup (457m) after he broke the track record in his Heat win on the weekend.

The Mark Wilcox-trained chaser was having his first start at Temora and scored a dominant victory in 25.94 - bettering the old mark of 26.09, which was set by Buster Shiraz in October 2013.

The win in the second Heat of the Temora Cup continued a stellar start to 2014 for Knocka's Return in which he has yet to miss a place from six starts.

Meanwhile in the other results for the Temora Cup Heats, My Kinda Music also broke the existing track record winning 25.95 for trainer Alan Pringle.

Other Heat winners were Perfect Chance (26.01), Pleiades (26.08), Release The Heat (26.12) and Victorian visitor White Spyro (26.23).

All winners qualify for Sunday's Temora Cup and will be joined by the two fastest second placed finishers - Ay Grade and Accelerant.

The Temora Cup meeting will be a TAB meeting with all races to be shown on Sky Racing. The first race is programmed to start at 5.57pm.

Temora Club President Gary Smith said the Cup would be the highest quality race the Riverina area has seen for years.

"The all-important box draw will play a major part in the chances to all finalists and with only 4 and a ½ lengths separating them this is sure to be an action packed final and the charge to the first bend will be not for the faint hearted," Smith said.

"Aside from the final, there will be a mega monster raffle drawn and someone will win a new car. There are still tickets available right up until the race meeting and anyone who wants a ticket can contact me via our website at www.greyhoundsTemora.com.

"This is one of the biggest and best greyhound races ever seen in the Riverina and I advise everyone that the Temora Greyhound track will be the place to be next Sunday. I look forward to seeing everyone at the track."

Meanwhile, two Heats of the Labtech Non Grade 330m were also run at Temora last Saturday with both Heat winners coming from the Victorian kennel of Glen Campbell with Tarn Star running a slashing 19.00 and Silent Girl running 19.13.

Two Heats of the Temora Shire Council Maiden over 457m were also conducted and the two Heat winners were Crazy Mystery for Wes McDonald in 26.68 and Mulberry Lane M. Duncan in 26.50.
