David Ward Fundraiser

A fundraising drive has been set up for trainer David Ward who was badly injured in a car accident on the way home from the abandoned race meeting at Unibet Gardens on Wednesday, February 19.

In poor weather conditions, David's car rolled multiple times and finished at the bottom of a steep gully.

David was found by police and was rushed to the John Hunter Hospital for treatment .

He suffered serious injuries including three neck fractures and two fractures in his lower back.

The car is a write off, which was David's main possession.

David is a single man devoted to his dogs. He is a pensioner and due to a bout of cancer he has suffered the loss of a kidney and some of his motor skills.

In David's words the dogs keep him active so he doesn't live his life from bed to couch. Unfortunately, being a pensioner, insurance wasn't at the top of his priorities.

Those close to David said he would spend more on his dogs than himself.

David's friends are calling for the greyhound community to pull together for David and help a grass roots greyhound man to get back on his feet by donating to a fundraiser at the Taree Greyhound Racing Club.

If you would to donate to this worthy cause the banking details are:

Commonwealth Bank
Account Name - Taree Greyhounds
BSB: 062603
ACC: 10404618
(Please use D Ward as reference).

There will also be an on-line auction held on the "talk" section of the Greyhound-Data website (www.greyhound-data.com) starting possibly next Wednesday (keep an eye on the "talk" section of the website for further details).

The auction will feature services to 12 top sires and a six-month old black dog by Nitro Burst from Hotel Baci plus rearing to 15 months of age.

GRNSW Greyhounds As Pets is also assisting David and his owners by taking four greyhounds into their program.
