Dooms To Dig Deep At Goulburn

By Noel Ovington

If Dig Deep Dooms can show the same box speed she did at Unibet Gardens last start she will be extremely hard to run down in race eight at Goulburn this afternoon.

A 20.34 winner over this course and distance in October last year, Dig Deep Dooms started at $30.30 at Unibet Gardens last Friday night and from box three led for a long way over the 400m trip before being run down by Montana Currency.

"She's a much better dog when she leads, and that certainly helped her tonight," trainer Les Deguara said after her second placing.

"She prefers an inside draw as well."

Dig Deep Dooms is a litter sister to National Futurity finalist Smashing Sally, who has a good mix of speed and strength, but in her 16 start career Dig Deep Dooms has not raced further than 400m.

From box one at Goulburn Dig Deep Dooms looks nicely placed.

Another from the April 2012 Hurricane Luke-Smashing Jen litter, Smashing Sam, will be looking to make it two wins in succession in race 10.

Trained by Neil Falk, Smashing Sam (box seven) broke his maiden winning over the 457m last week and has each-way claims again although last week's impressive winner Mr Amino looks perfectly placed from box two to notch up a hat-trick of wins and maintain his unbeaten record for trainer Kim Mulrine.
