Four-Midable Pair In Action At Albion Park

By Stuart Turner

Short Cake Cloud and Renatus are two of the country’s most in-form sprinters right now and both are back in action at a high-quality Albion Park Thursday meeting.

Gavin Lowe’s Short Cake Cloud jumps from box eight in the night’s third race and looks a strong chance to secure a fifth consecutive victory.

The chaser, from Lowe’s Ellangowan kennels close to Lismore in the NSW Northern Rivers region, racked up her latest victory at Albion Park on December 15.

Lowe’s charge seems to be improving with every race over this distance and won from the same box two starts ago.

A daughter of Messi x Three’s A Cloud, she has seven wins and five placings from 14 starts and is maturing into a very capable sprinter.

The big danger here looks like Glenda Dart’s Banc De Kahn (box six), who is in great form but unproven over this distance.

Lowe also looks good to double up with another of his impressive chasers, Buenos Cloud,  going in race six.

Another greyhound in flying form, Renatus, looks a strong chance in race seven.

Ron Ball’s impressive sprinter has won four in a row and should be able to handle the box six draw here.

The Tom Tzouvelis-trained pair Tee Brady and Le Sirenuse both return to action after superb victories in the Paws of Thunder preludes at Wentworth Park last Saturday night.

Both look strong chances in race eight but will have to beat Fusaichi Kahn (box two), a recent Group 1 Brisbane Cup runner-up who is in great form and looks well drawn to pinch this one.

Look for another decent prospect, Minnesota Nice, to triumph in the night’s second race.

Malcolm Cuneo’s newcomer has stepped up well to the 520m distance, is running some strong times and looks to have drawn well here.

Whata Nice Size (race four) and Grim Creeper in race 10 can also provide wins in what looks a fascinating meeting.
