Vale - Terry Wilson

By Jeff Collerson
Terry Wilson, who, along with wife Veronica were instrumental in operating the Moree Greyhound Club for 25 years, passed away on Monday morning, aged 84.

Their son Hunter said: "Mum, who is still with us, and dad have lived in Lismore in recent years but were passionate about the quarter century they spent at the Moree track, and during that time they managed to have a new kennel block constructed.

"My parents also owned and trained greyhounds, with their best being Crackerbox Jet, a prolific winner in the 1980s, and Flying Kokomo, who was trained for them by Susan McDermott.

"When their dogs began racing mum and dad would see how they went on local tracks before sending the better ones to Susan, the wife of the late broadcaster John McDermott, to compete on TAB tracks.''

Flying Kokomo won her first race, at Coonabarabran, in April, 2002, and went out a winner, scoring at her final outing, fittingly at Moree, in October, 2004.

During her career Flying Kokomo contested 69 races for 32 wins and 15 placings.

Greyhound Racing NSW wishes to extend sincere condolences to the Wilson family and their friends.
