This manual explains the minimum corporate governance, risk management, racing program, racecourse facilities and financial management standards that clubs must achieve to obtain registration and funding in future.
Compliance with these operating standards should improve the performance, efficiency, safety and accountability of greyhound racing in this state.
The manual was in response to a request by clubs and their associations at the end of 2003 for GRNSW not to close tracks based on past performance, but instead to set prospective standards that clubs must achieve to remain in the industry.
The Board of GRNSW acceded to this request, adopting a ‘local' rather than ‘regional' vision for the NSW greyhound racing industry. The result was the issuance of an industry strategy, “A Better Future” in place of the original document “A Fresh Start”.
The standards and guidelines incorporated in this manual were drafted by experts in their respective fields and reviewed and refined by four working parties consisting of club association representatives, industry participants and GRNSW Management. I wish to thank all those involved in crafting the manual including the members of my Board who chaired each working party.
